Tanzania
Since its opening in 2005, AAG has had a strong commitment to community service and we actively encourage all of our girls to become responsible citizens in both their local and their global communities.
As part of high school community service program, each year we provide the opportunity for 12 of our high school students to travel to Tanzania. While away we spend 3 days in an orphanage, assisting the staff with playing with the children, lunch duties, and the general day to day running of the institution. We also work in conjunction with Hiefer International and their humanitarian aid program. Our school fundraises to purchase cows for families in need. Whilst in Africa the girls are able to meet with the recipients of the cows. Following their work in the orphanage, the girls spend 5 days involved in hard labor projects. This typically involve digging foundations, cement making, brick making or the renovations of classrooms.
After an exhausting, but rewarding, 10 days of work the girls spend two days on safari in the Tarangerie National Park before returning to Dubai.

North Star- Dibba
Each year 100 of our students in grades 5 -8 spend 2 days and one night at the North Star Adventure Camp in Fujairah. While up on the East Coast, our girls have the opportunity to experience rock climbing, abseiling, raft building, biking, camp craft and other team building activities.
This is a great opportunity for our girls to become more confident and independent learners and also helps them to begin to foster leadership skills. In addition, it provides an excellent foundation for our other residential trips such as skiing, Tanzania and the high school trip to Oman.
Date: 28-29 October 2010
Mussandam Trip
Following on from our trip to Dibba, our High School girls spend 4 days in Musandam (Oman), again using the North Star Adventure Company. Whilst up on the East Coast, our girls have the opportunity to experience rock climbing, GPS navigation, abseiling, raft building, biking, camp craft and other team building activities.
This is a great opportunity for our girls to become more confident and independent learners and also helps them to build on and develop to leadership skills learnt in earlier years. Research has shown that participation in such adventure type activities encourages the girls to become greater risk takers in the class room and to have more confidence in their own abilities. In addition, this trip provides an excellent foundation for our other residential overseas trips such as Tanzania and Skiing.
