Why all girls?
|
Research findings from the past two decades show huge advantages to single-gender education. According to Harvard University researcher Dr. Carol Gilligan, “…girls think, interact, display leadership and make decisions in a way that is unique both psychologically and developmentally.” The male-based model, she found, simply did not fit the way girls learn. What sets girls’ schools apart is their in-depth understanding of how girls learn and succeed. Without the presence of boys, girls tend to display their intelligence and curiosity more. Single-gender schools therefore give them every opportunity to grow in confidence, knowledge, and a host of other skills needed to engage successfully with the new opportunities opening up for women in today’s world. The all girls’ school approach isn’t for everyone. As parents, we realize that each child is very different. When you select an educational setting for your daughter, the selection should be based on how it can meet her individual needs. AAG provides families with another option. Our teaching staff serves as strong role models for the girls, and our nurturing, family-style environment caters to the full range of your daughter’s intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs.
