AAG WINS CANDIDACY FOR ACCREDITATION
Dear Parents,
As you may recall in my last two letters in November and December, I shared with you that Council of International Schools and New England Association of Schools and Colleges would be visiting our school on December 14th through the 17th. The purpose of their visit was to determine if we are ready to begin the next step, the self-study portion of the accreditation process.
On late Thursday afternoon, I received an email from them. The CIS Accreditation Service and its Advisors after completing their consideration of the December Preliminary Visitor's Report on the Al-Mizhar American Academy for Girls (AAG) submitted by Kay Mongardi, CIS Visitor, and Marty Gray, NEASC/CAISA announced that the report has been accepted, along with the recommendations it contains. This means that AAG has been granted Candidate Status for CIS Accreditation.
CIS noted many positive features in the Preliminary Visitor’s Report which support the award of accreditation candidate status.
They have recommended that AAG proceed with the next stages of the accreditation process, following the suggested timeline:
Suggested Timeline –AAG School
| January 2009 |
Set up all committees and begin the Self-Study. Put an early emphasis on Part One and Section A of Part Two.
June 2010
Complete and distribute the Self-Study Report. |
Autumn 2010
Host the Team Visit. |
As we move to the next step in the process, I will be hosting a parents’ information meeting to explain what we will be doing over the next eighteen months. For more information about accreditation, please refer to www.cois.org,or please feel to contact me with any questions about the process.
Regards,
Delice Scotto, Principal
