August 2010
To the AAG community:
It is my pleasure to report to you the outstanding results our students achieved writing the AP international exams last May. At AAG, 23 students wrote a total of 36 exams at the first year university level in biology, chemistry, English language, English literature and US history. These are external exams that are graded by the Collegeboard in the United States and our girls are competing at a global level against students from all over the world.
All scores reported on a 5 point scale with 5 being the highest possible score. This score is equivalent to a student scoring an A on the final exam in any given course at the first year university level. A score of 4 corresponds to an A-, B+ or B and a score of 3 is equivalent to a B-, C+ or C. Scores of 3, 4 and 5 mean that a student is eligible to receive a first year university credit.
We are very proud of our students' achievement this year. Four of our students achieved 5's in biology and English literature while 11 students achieved 4's. Seven more students achieved 3's. 61% of the total exams written by our students made them eligible for 1st year credit. Ten of the other exams scored 2's which means that a student may be eligible for university credit.
I would like to extend my congratulations to all of our students who achieved outstanding results through their hard work last year. I would also like to extend congratulations to the staff members who supported student learning through their dedication to educating young people at AAG.
I am looking forward to greeting you back to AAG in September.
